2009 was a year controversial year
It found more displaced families than any other time in history. Saying that the housing market dropped is an understatement. The state I call home was one of the hardest hit. #3 on the list, more Florida homeowners lost their jobs & homes during this time than the last 10 years combined. Local estimates here say that it could be up to 3 more years before things turn around.
It saw Microsoft enter and challenge Google for top honors in the "internet search" war.
Guitar Hero is now a household name
My Space fell hard to the Twitter & Facebook assault.
George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees another World Series championship
It saw an incredible, outstretched wide receiver from the Pittsburgh Steelers catch the game winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the Super Bowl.
We said farewell to Pontiac & Saturn-I guess that Pontiac can now say... "We built excitement" saying adios to the Gran Prix, the Trans Am and other muscle cars of years gone by....
How are we ever supposed to trust an insurance company or bank ever again? Did you get a million dollar bonus? we sure the fuck didn't, nor will we buy insurance from the likes of AIG ever again.
It saw an airplane turn into a boat in the Hudson, with no loss of life.
Unfortunately, the Bermuda Triangle claimed another victim.
2009 also saw the departing of a dancer, an angel really did ascend to heaven-come on guys how many of you over 40 someones DID NOT have a Farrah poster in your room? Hell, I did! I used to joke that I woke up with Farrah every morning,
The King of Pop took his eternal throne with the potential of becoming more popular in death than he was in life.
Think I'm kidding?
All of you over 40's like me, do you remember when the king of rock n roll passed?
I do.
Since Elvis passed, his popularity is greater than ever. Personal feelings for this say that his family has to thank the electronic media. The internet, programs like Napster, Limewire & Morphus make stars like Elvis & Micheal Jackson live forever which, there is nothing wrong with this!
It saw the untimely passing of an all-star NFL quarterback and a young superstar in the making
It saw the formation of partnerships which we were told didn't exist.
It saw friends become enemies
&
Enemies become friends...
People showed their true colors.
2009 also brought to life the potential of world destruction based on important calendars like the Mayan, Hebrew and even one from the Chinese.
If the calendars and prophets like Nostradamus are correct, Dec. 21, 2012 will see the end of most of humanity. Maybe Hollywood actually got a film right for once.
Thousands of marriages ended and thousands of new marriages began.
And the list could go on and on.....
So what will you take from 2009 or better yet, what will you take from the first decade of the millennium?
Whatever you choose to carry forward, make it "a happy memory" (Men in Black). People spend way too much time trying to hold on to the past.... which we all know at least for now, you can't go back.
